Massages

Massage or massaging is part of mechanotherapy; it is a system of touches that mechanically irritate peripheral nerves, blood vessels and muscles. The goal is to increase fitness, eliminate fatigue or treat. The word massage comes from the French word massage, probably from the Arabic meat "touch, touch or manipulate" or from the Latin mass "meat, dough". The older meaning of this word may be from the Hebrew me-sakj "anointing with oil". Ancient Greek used the word anatripsis for massage and the Latin frictio. Massage therapy is the most widely used type of adjunctive medicine in hospitals. It relieves muscle pain and injuries and other causes of pain, reduces stress and increases relaxation, rehabilitates sports injuries and reduces feelings of anxiety and depression, and increases general well-being. Massage represents the action on the body and manipulation of the body by means of pressures - structured, unstructured, stationary or moving - pressure, impulse or vibration. It is done manually or with the help of mechanical aids. The target tissues can be muscles, tendons, ligaments, skin, joints or other connective tissues, as well as lymph nodes or organs of the digestive system. The massage can be applied with the hands, fingers, elbows, knees, forearms and feet. There are more than a hundred different known massage techniques. The most mentioned reasons for the introduction of massage as a treatment were the demand of clients and the perception of clinical effects. The massage can take place on the massage table, in the massage chair or on the mat on the floor. During the massage, the client may be completely or partially naked. Body parts can be covered with towels or sheets.

History

Records of massage have been discovered in many ancient civilizations, including Rome, Greece, India, Japan, China, Egypt and Mesopotamia. Chinese manuscript from 2700 BC. recommends that you run a morning massage "against the cold, to keep the organs supple and to prevent health problems". In 1996, massage was offered for the first time as a basic health service at the Atlanta Summer Olympics. Much younger is the Swedish massage, which was described around 1830 by Per Henrik Ling and which is considered the basic form of massage in Western cultures, the "classical" massage. There are over 100 different types of massages based on different cultural backgrounds. The various types of massages overlap, and many techniques are described as an original, stand-alone method for commercial reasons only.

Equipment

Special massage tables and chairs are used to store the client during the massage. A typical massage table is easy to clean, has a flat surface and a face opening that allows the client to breathe easily while lying face down. This type of massage table helps the masseur to keep the client lying still, and at the same time so that the masseur can place the client in the required position.

An orthopedic pillow or headrest is also used to properly position the body during the massage.

Ergonomic chairs serve similarly as massage tables. The chairs can be fixed or portable. For a masseur, the chair is easier to carry than a massage table, and clients do not have to undress for a massage in the chair. Due to these two factors, armchairs are preferred especially in public places such as department stores. Countless amounts of massage oils are used for massage, which are used to regenerate, remove dead skin or relax muscles.

Classic back, neck

Craniosacral therapy is a technique. It focuses on soft tissues and body fluids. It recognizes disorders of the craniosacral system, which include the head, spine and sacrum, connected by "pulses" of the circulating cerebrospinal fluid. Faults are rectified by light pressure (about the weight of a 5-crown coin) at various points in the system; thus normalizing fluid and energy flow through the craniosacral system.

Classic full body Swedish massage - Classic massage

He uses five styles of sliding long touches during the massage. These touches are sliding, kneading, beating, friction and vibration. Swedish massage has proven to be very beneficial in relieving pain and stiff joints. It has also been proven that Swedish massage can improve the condition of a patient with osteoarthritis of the knee within eight weeks. It has also been shown to be useful in individuals with poor blood circulation. The development of Swedish massage is attributed to Per Henrik Ling. However, the term "Swedish massage" is not so well known in Sweden, where this massage is called "classical massage".

Sports massage

It is a gentle energetic massage of acupressure points and spine, which relieves pressure on the plates, relaxes tense muscles and tendons. St. John's wort oil is used for the massage, which is very nourishing not only for the spinal plates but also for all joints.

Soft techniques

It is a technique of relaxing and stretching tendons and muscles by squeezing points, thus eliminating pain and muscle tension.

Banking

Lomi Lomi (Hawaiian massage)

It is a traditional massage from Hawaii. The word "lomilomi" is used as a term for massage in Samoa and Eastern Futune. In Samoa the term milimili is also used, in eastern Futune fakasolosolo, in Tonge fotofota, in Tahiti rumirumi.

Aroma massage with peeling

The massage techniques are gentle and allow the client to relax and feel relaxed. This massage includes sliding, kneading, stroking, etc. The masseur also applies aromatic oils, peelong, to the body during the massage. The result of the application of this massage, ie the result of this treatment, is an improvement in the flow of blood, oxygen and energy in the patient's body. Hot stones are also used in this type of massage.

Lava stone massage

Stone massage uses cold or water-heated stones to apply pressure and warm the body. The therapist can also use stones painted with oil. Hot stones are usually river stones that have been extremely polished and smoothed over time. These stones are deposited along the patient's back, retaining heat, which then penetrates deep into the muscles, relieving tension.

Honey (detoxifying)

It is a Russian technique, it uses the adhesion of honey applied to the skin for intensive subcutaneous work. The power of bee honey acts on the body through the skin through the pumping movements of the hands. Sediments and poisons are first sucked out of the depths of the body tissues, and after this cleansing, the active ingredients from the honey are delivered to the body.

Face and neck massage

Massage technique focused on the head, neck and face.

Foot massage

It is a traditional treatment originating from acupuncture, it is an acupressure technique where physical pressure is applied to the acupuncture points of the hands, elbows or various pointed aids.

Lymphatic massage

(lymphatic drainage) uses rhythmic kneading and thus improves the flow of tissue fluid, alleviates swelling.
