Procedure:

1. Preparation:

The patient is seated or lying in a comfortable position. The area to be treated is cleaned and prepared.

2. Application of electrodes:

The electrodes, placed in protective sleeves, are applied to the affected area. They can be applied longitudinally or transversely depending on the type of complaint.

3. Current setting:

The physiotherapist sets the current parameters (frequency, intensity, etc.) according to the individual needs of the patient.

4. Treatment:

The current is applied for a duration of usually 6 to 12 minutes.

5. Feeling during treatment:

The patient may feel tingling, slight muscle contractions, or redness of the skin.

6. Ending:

After the procedure is complete, the electrodes are removed and the treatment area is treated as needed

Effects of diadynamic currents:

• Analgesic effect: Relieves pain of various causes, especially in joints and the spine.
• Circulation promotion: Increases blood flow in the treatment area, which contributes to better healing and tissue regeneration.
• Muscle relaxation: Relaxes stiff and sore muscles.
• Anti-inflammatory effect: Can inhibit inflammatory processes.

Indications:

Spine and joint pain, muscle pain and cramps, swelling, circulation promotion, muscle electrical stimulation.

Contraindications:

Patients with pacemakers, pregnancy, infectious diseases, bleeding disorders, tumors.

Important note:

Diadynamic currents should not be used to treat obese patients, as fatty deposits under the skin can impair the effectiveness of the current.
